Charles Gibson Legacy Society
In addition to a generous gift from his estate, perhaps Charlie's greatest
gift to the Foundation was in giving his name to The Charles Gibson Legacy
Society. The Legacy Society honors and recognizes donors to the Foundation
who have made a gift to the future of healthcare in Cortland through a
bequest in a will or other planned gift.
Charlie Gibson’s generous gifts of time, talent, and charitable donations
strengthened our community's health. He was a founding board member
of Cortland Memorial Foundation, and went on to serve the board for 18
years. For seven years, he generously opened his home for the Harvest
of Gold, a major fundraising event of the Foundation.
"Charlie Gibson was a generous man, with great foresight, who gave
not only of his time but also his personal resources to help the hospital,"
said executive director, Debbie Nadolski. "He was very dedicated
in his commitment to ensure quality health care in our community. Charlie's
forward-thinking generosity continues to live on."
Before his death, Charles Gibson shared this: "I have shared my name
to create the Charles Gibson Legacy Society so that people in Cortland
will be encouraged to look ahead to the future and help preserve and grow
this great health care institution. I chose to donate a paid-in-full life
insurance policy to Cortland Memorial Foundation to ensure that the legacy
lives on - helping to make sure that quality health care continues in
