Throughout the month of October, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness,
Homer Junior High School students were given the opportunity to demonstrate
school spirit and civic engagement. This motivated group of students chose
to help raise funds for chemotherapy chairs and blankets for Cortland
Regional Medical Center’s hematology and oncology department.
On Friday, October 26, Deborah Nadolski, Executive Director of the Cortland
Memorial Foundation, accepted a check totaling $344.00 from the Homer
Jr. High Student Council for the Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund.
Following an introduction by the Student Council president, Nadolski addressed
the entire school assembly, explaining what the Cancer Care fund is and
how the monies would be used.
“It was inspirational to see the next generation learning about giving
back to their community”, said Nadolski, “as well as their
commitment to help fight this disease.”
