Approximately 6.7 million people in the U.S. are affected by chronic wounds
and that rate is rising, fueled by an aging population and higher rates
of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects
of radiation therapy. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished
quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.
The cost of treating these advanced wounds will exceed $50 billion annually
in the US alone.
In an effort to continue helping raise awareness of chronic wounds, CRMC
Wound Care will use this week to educate physicians, patients and our
community about the ongoing chronic wound epidemic and the advanced wound
care solutions we offer. Visit
Wound Care Awareness to learn more.
Cortland Regional’s Wound Care Center offers advanced therapies to
patients suffering from chronic wounds. To schedule an appointment with
the Center, please call (607) 753-0993.
