The Administration of Cortland Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce
the addition of Kelly Hirsch, RN, MSN,FNP, to itsmanagement team. Kelly
was recently promoted to Director of Quality Improvement. She succeeds
Joan Skawski, whonow servesas the medical center's Risk Manager. Kelly
is responsible foroverseeing the medical center's program that evaluates
patient care. The Quality Improvement Department works closely with both
thehospital and medical staff to establish or improveon existinghealthcare
standards, while monitoring CRMC's compliance withindustry standards.
"My goal is to help guide CRMC in the direction ofever higherlevels
of care," said Kelly. "We must continuallystrive for better
clinical outcomes, better patient satisfaction, and more efficient patient
care. I hope to make it easier for the front line clinical staffto become
more engaged in the quality improvement process.
"Kelly brings over 15 years of patient care experience to her new
position, first as a paramedic latera nurse, and then a nurse practitioner.
For the past six years she has worked at CRMC as a nursepractitioner for
Maternity/Pediatrics. While in this position Kelly provided direction,
support andconsultation to Labor & Delivery, Nursery, and Pediatric staff.
Prior to joining CRMC, Kelly worked as a nurse practitioner in a private
pediatric practice, first in Auburn and then later Ithaca. Her other experience
includes work as a charge nurse at UpstateMedical University. Hirsch began
her medical careeras a paramedic for Rural Metro MedicalServices in Syracuse.
Originally from Montrose, PA, Kelly attended Syracuse University. She graduated
with abachelor's degree in Biology, followed by a bachelor's in
Nursing, then a master's degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Kelly completed additional training and education at Upstat eMedical University,
where she earned her post master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Her professional affiliations include the New York State Nurses Association
and the Nurse Practitioners Association. She is nationally certified as
a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through theAmerican Nurses Credentialing Center.
Kelly now makes her home in Ithaca, with her husband Tom, who works as
a fire chief, and theirchildren.
