“For me, Cortland Regional is about family. I have such a close relationship
with my team and my patients here that they all feel like family to me.
I started my nursing career at Cortland Regional 25 years ago. I couldn’t
have chosen a more perfect place to start and it’s definitely one
of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Actually, I’ve
heard some pretty persistent recruiting sales pitches from other larger
hospitals over the years. But they could never offer what I’ve found here.
I really care about every one of my patients. I’ve known many for
years and everyone knows me. I don't know how to describe the feeling,
but I feel very responsible for each patient that I care for and I watch
over them like they’re my only patient. I see their happy faces
when I walk in the room to help and the relief they feel when I do my
job well -- it makes me feel so good about what I do.
We have an excellent team in the ER and we all support each other. Particularly
in the ER, it’s important to have a team where everyone puts the
patients first and does whatever it takes to give them great care. We
always have each other’s backs – we’re a team but we’re
also a family from that perspective.
For my education, Cortland Regional has helped me tremendously by paying
for almost all of my bachelor’s degree. And for continuing education,
my seminars and conferences are reimbursed by the hospital and there are
additional seminars and classes offered for free on-site.
It’s important to me to have rewarding relationships with both my
patients and my team, that’s why I chose Cortland Regional."
