Skilled, Compassionate and Pro-active Patient Care.

Cortland Regional Medical Center focuses on delivering high-quality healthcare. CRMC has an extensively trained and dedicated Perioperative staff that provides a wide range of outpatient procedures and surgeries.
Surgeries/Procedures can involve diagnosing a disease (breast biopsy), treating an injury (broken ankle), mending a condition (cataract removal), or preventing illness through early detection (colon cancer).

Attentive Patient Care from Preadmission to Discharge

Prior to surgeries/procedures at CRMC, patients undergo a Preadmission Testing (PATs) process. Patients will meet with Perioperative staff face-to-face. Necessary blood work or other tests may be done during this visit. An introduction to the Unit will help the patient get comfortable with their surroundings.
After the surgery/procedure, the patient is closely monitored in preparation for discharge or admission.

Access to Expert Medical Professionals and the Latest Surgical Advancements

Many Perioperative staff members seek out new procedures and equipment, in order to provide the latest and improved treatment for our patients and our community. The Surgical staff constantly undergoes training in the latest surgical technology.

A Patient’s Loved Ones are a Top Priority

Our Perioperative staff at CRMC appreciates how a patient’s family and friends can be apprehensive as their loved one undergoes surgery or a procedure. At CRMC we assign a volunteer to keep the patient’s loved ones informed of the patient’s status while they wait in the Surgical/Procedure waiting area.

Balloon Sinuplasty: Cutting Edge Sinus Surgery Without the Cutting

Patients suffering from chronic sinusitis now have a safe, painless, minimally invasive option to traditional sinus surgery. Sinusitis is one of the most common chronic health problems in the U.S., afflicting 37 million Americans each year. Patients suffer headaches, congestion, fatigue and other symptoms. This condition significantly impacts an individual’s physical, functional, and emotional quality of life. 80% of patients can be treated with mediation therapy. The remaining 20% may require surgery, which can be painful (bone and cartilage removal), risky (performed within millimeters of the eyes and brain), and have an uncomfortable recovery.

Now there is a third option: the Balloon Sinuplasty system by Acclarent. It is safe, painless, and minimally invasive. A thin guide wire equipped with a tiny balloon is threaded into the nostrils up to the area of blockage. The surgeon inflates the balloon just enough to open the passageway. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes and is done as outpatient surgery at CRMC, so the patient is home the same day! Balloon sinuplasty is clinically proven with studies showing that its results are equal to or better than traditional surgery.
