On Wednesday, March 30, Cortland Regional Medical Center will commemorate
National Doctor’s Day by honoring two care givers in the Cortland
area community. This year’s Physician Recognition Dinner will recognize
Cathy Zarzecki, M.D., a pediatric physician who has served 17 years on
Cortland Regional’s medical staff and Mary Doss, a nurse practitioner
and physician assistant with 29 years of service to the medical center.
This is the 25th anniversary of the Physician Awards and the first time Cortland Regional
has expanded the nominations to include advanced healthcare providers.
The awards are presented to members of the medical staff who are dedicated
to “excellence in patient care, have given significant service to
Cortland Regional Medical Center and community, and have demonstrated
significant and continued academic effort.”
Collectively, both Zarzecki and Doss have provided over 50 years of care
for patients in Cortland County. Dr. Zarzecki has been caring for children
and families in the Cortland area since 1999. Prior to arriving in Cortland,
she practiced in Poland with a focus on children’s ophthalmology.
She has practiced with Family Health Network since 2015. When asked how
she felt about receiving the award, Dr. Zarzecki offered, "It’s
truly an honor to be recognized for this award and to be part of a 25-year
tradition. Many deserving healthcare providers have received this award
in the past and I’m happy to be able to work with these colleagues
to help our patients lead healthier lives”
Advanced level clinicians have been part of the medical team at CRMC for
more than 45 years. Honoree Mary Doss has been part of the local healthcare
community since the early 70s and received her advanced practitioner certifications
in 1977. She has provided health care as part of the AMP Urology team
for the last 10 years. Doss shared that she sincerely appreciates the
award stating, “I am humbled and grateful that Cortland Regional
Medical Center has been supportive of advanced practitioners through the

Carrie Jackson, M.D., Terry White, N.P., and Hasan Zakariyya, M.D.
Dr. Roger Scott, Chief Medical Officer, reflects on this year’s honorees,
