ACLS Beginner Class

Arthritis Exercise Program
Our certified instructors demonstrate basic, gentle routines that include stretching, strengthening and fitness exercises that can help you regain your ability to do everyday activities. Each session consists of two-1hour sessions each week, for eight weeks.

Childbirth Education Classes
Two-day weekend session that teaches expectant parents a variety of topics including: Nutrition, Role of the Coach, Breathing and Relaxation Techniques for Labor, Care and Characteristics of the Newborn, Breastfeeding, Parenting Skills, Post Partum Issues, and Infant Safety. A tour of the labor and delivery rooms, birthing rooms, and maternity suites is also included. Instruction is provided in a pleasant, informal setting that encourages participation. Discussion is supplemented by demonstrations and audio visual aids.

CPR Basic Life Support Beginner Class
Geared towards healthcare professionals, this six-hour course teaches one and two person CPR, infant and child CPR.

CPR Instructor Course (Recertification)
A three hour recertification class for those interested in teaching CPR. Tuesday April 29. Offered at the following times: 9:00 a.m.-Noon; Noon-3:00 p.m. and 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Diabetes Education Classes
Designed to help the person with diabetes and his/her family manage the disease. Registered dietitians, registered pharmacists and a certified diabetes educator, all on the CRMC staff, will conduct the classes. Topics include: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment of Diabetes; Nutrition; Testing for Sugar; Preventing Complications; Oral Medications and Insulin; and Exercise.

Diabetic Support Group
Learn how to manage the disease with support from others with diabetes. Meets the last Tuesday of every month (except July & August)

Grief & Loss Support Group
Many people have a difficult time coming to terms with the loss of a loved one or other special person in their lives. Open to anyone dealing with a loss or grief and needs to share with others. A different topic will be discussed each month. Meets the last Tuesday of the month from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Grief Recovery Group
Grief Recovery is a process group that helps a person to work through emotions such as guilt, anger, sadness, emptiness or just not able to shake the sense of loss. The group is open to those who are dealing with loss due to death, divorce, job, relationship or other losses.
Next 8-week session begins Monday June 16 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. To register, or learn more about the Grief Recovery Group, contact Chaplain Ina Warren at 756-3179.

Infant Loss Support Group
The group provides grief support for parents, grandparents, and siblings who have suffered the loss of a child due to a miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, or other circumstance.   Meets the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group
All individuals, families and caregivers who are coping with, or are interested in learning more about prostate cancer, are invited to attend. Cortland Regional Medical Center and the American Cancer Society serve as co-sponsors for the monthly prostate cancer support group meetings.Each meeting features a speaker on an important topic in the field of prostate cancer or a topic of interest to families. Meets last Wednesday of each month.

Tobacco Free for Life
Make the commitment to quit and look forward to a healthier life! Next "Tobacco Free For Life" class begins Tuesday May 6th.
This 7 week program, developed at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, teaches all the skills necessary to successfully beat the addiction to cigarette smoking. The course is taught by trained smoking cessation specialists and looks at the many components of the smoking habit. These specialists develop a clear and concise plan based on each class members individual needs.
