Financial Assistance
Cortland Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is committed to caring for patients, regardless of their ability to pay for services. Hospital expenses can be daunting, especially to those who do not have insurance to pay for them. That is why we have trained financial counselors to help you understand your financial responsibility and the payment options available to you.Patients are responsible for paying their hospital bills, even if they have inadequate medical insurance, or no insurance at all. Payment plans are available to all patients. In addition, CRMC financial counselors can help patients find other ways to pay for their medical care. Our on-site facilitated enroller can assist eligible patients with enrollment in healthcare insurance programs such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus, or Family Health Plus.
Some patients may be eligible for financial aid. CRMC financial counselors can review a patient's income and resources to help determine if full or partial financial aid is available.
Our financial counselors are happy to answer any questions you may have. They can be contacted at (607) 756-3530, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Medical/Surgical Units
The Med/Surg Units (2South and 3South) are where most patients spend the night at Cortland Regional Medical Center. We serve adults and children who are hospitalized to receive medicines and treatments or who are staying for recovery from surgical procedures. Our nursing staff has a wide variety of training and experience. Because we treat everyone from infants to elderly patients, we encourage our nurses to be lifelong learners along with taking classes in current medical procedures and technology. Nurses on 2S and 3S work with many other professionals including doctors, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists and physical, occupational and speech therapists, and respiratory therapists in developing a plan for care to fit each individual patient. The goals of the medical surgical unit staff are high... to provide efficient, quality, individualized and comprehensive nursing care to all patients.
Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
As part of the medical center's initiative to provide services along the full continuum of care, an attached 80-bed nursing and rehabilitation center opened in 1993. The Cortland Regional Nursing & Rehabilitation Center offers our community four levels of care in a relaxed, comfortable setting:o Long Term Care is provided for residents who need 24-hour skilled nursing care in a home-like environment and require medical and/or rehabilitative services.
o Short Term Rehabilitation provides nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for patients who have been in the hospital and need additional therapy and supportive services before they are able to return home.
o Adult Day Health Care is a program designed to provide service for adults requiring needed medical and/or rehabilitative care during the day. The program operates Monday through Saturday from 8am - 4:30pm, and is especially helpful for a primary caregiver who is employed outside the home.
o Respite Care is scheduled short-term care designed to provide relief to the primary caregiver of an individual who requires medical and/or rehabilitative services but usually lives at home.

We realize that a hospital admission is stressful and want to make your child's stay as comfortable as possible. Our approach is based on the concept of family-centered care with the belief that the family is a child's primary source of strength and support. We encourage you to participate in your child's care and welcome your questions and suggestions.Providing a safe and secure healing environment has are always been a top priority at Cortland Regional Medical Center. To complement the units existing security measures, the medical center recently introduced an electronic tagging system. Hugs is a proven technology that makes the facility safer and helps put parents at ease.

Respiratory Care
This department is organized and designed to provide a comprehensive program of respiratory care service to both inpatients and outpatients with known or suspected pulmonary disease or dysfunction. Our staff specializes in the treatment, management, control and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with respiration. These functions are accomplished by therapeutic administration of oxygen, rehabilitation techniques, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and maintenance of natural and artificial airways
Sleep Studies
Our Sleep Lab staff assists area residents in the analysis and treatment of sleep disorders. Signs of a sleep disorder include waking up during the night, the inability to fall asleep, feeling sleepy during classes or at work, and moodiness and irritability. One of the most common conditions is sleep apnea, a disorder of interrupted breathing during sleep. Snoring is the most obvious symptom of this breathing disorder.Patients who exhibit symptoms associated with a sleep disorder should first discuss them with their family physician. The physician may then recommend a sleep study to help identify the causes of the symptoms. In order to accommodate our sleep patients, two rooms on the 3Central Unit were re-furnished and decorated in the look, feel, and comfort of a typical bedroom. Once the patient has fallen asleep, a polysomnogram (sleep test) is administered by a sleep technician. The technician monitors the patients breathing and brain activity, and observes him or her from an adjacent room via a video camera.
Spiritual Care
At Cortland Regional Medical Center, a spiritual counselor, call a Chaplain, is available on request to aid patients and their families in time of need.A Chaplain is an ordained minister with special training to deal with medical and crisis situations that occur within a hospital. However, at times when a person's clergyperson is not available, the Chaplain will provide spiritual care.
Reverand Warren is available to:
* Listen when you are feeling troubled and need to talk.
* Pray with patients and read scripture or other words of comfort.
* Perform sacraments including communion and baptism.
